Foster Drops Navarrete Twice, Unifies Three World Titles in 12-Round Masterclass
· News Team
SAN ANTONIO — October 24, 2026 (final). O’Shaquie Foster did more than collect another championship belt. He dismantled Emanuel Navarrete’s pressure game over 12 rounds, scored two knockdowns in the final round and won a unanimous decision to become the unified WBC, WBO and IBF super featherweight champion at Frost Bank Center.
The verdict: three belts, two knockdowns, one clear winner
The judges scored the bout 118–108, 118–108 and 115–111 for Foster. The 33-year-old from Orange, Texas, improved to 26–3 (12 KOs); Navarrete fell to 40–3–1 (33 KOs). Foster retained his WBC title and added Navarrete’s WBO and IBF championships, plus The Ring recognition.
For much of the fight, Navarrete kept coming forward but struggled to convert his volume and awkward angles into clean, sustained offense. Foster repeatedly chose when to trade, answered attacks with counters and used footwork to make the Mexican champion reset. The difference was not simply speed: Foster took away the moments in which Navarrete usually makes opponents uncomfortable.
Why the twelfth round changed the story
Navarrete threatened to create late drama with an uppercut in round eleven. But Foster responded by finishing aggressively instead of protecting his scorecard lead. Two knockdowns in the twelfth removed any lingering doubt about the direction of the fight, although Navarrete rose and survived to the final bell.
That finish matters to the wider interpretation of Foster’s performance. His technical advantages had been evident for much of the contest; the knockdowns showed he could punish the very opponent whose power was expected to test him. It was a tactical victory capped by a statement of physical authority.
What a unified champion still has to prove
Foster now holds three of the four major titles at 130 pounds. The WBA championship remains outside his collection, so undisputed status is a future goal, not a title he already holds. Mandatory-defense obligations and the outcome of other championship bouts will shape his path.
Navarrete remains a dangerous and accomplished fighter, but this bout exposed the cost of chasing a composed counterpuncher without consistently establishing clean entries. A rematch would require more than increased aggression: it would demand better control of distance and a more disciplined route into range.
