EDMONTON, Alberta — October 24, 2026 (final). William Nylander scored twice to reach 300 career NHL goals as the Toronto Maple Leafs overwhelmed the Edmonton Oilers 7–2 at Rogers Place. Goaltender Anthony Stolarz made 30 saves, and Toronto stretched its winning streak to four games.

Toronto’s attack turns a marquee matchup into a rout

Jack Roslovic opened the scoring in the first period, with an Edmonton defender inadvertently directing the loose puck into the net. Auston Matthews and Troy Stecher scored early in the second to build a 3–0 lead. Leon Draisaitl got Edmonton on the board before the intermission, but Nylander’s power-play goal in the third restored Toronto’s three-goal advantage.

Zack MacEwen and Nylander, who scored into an empty net, extended the lead. Vinni Lettieri added Toronto’s seventh goal in the closing seconds. Draisaitl scored both Edmonton goals, while Connor McDavid supplied two assists and extended his season-opening point streak to 11 games. The official NHL recap lists Toronto at 7-4-2 and Edmonton at 8-2-1 after the game.

Why the result stands out

Nylander’s 300-goal milestone is the headline achievement, but the game’s broader message was Toronto’s depth. Seven goals came from multiple contributors, including Matthews, Roslovic, Stecher, MacEwen and Lettieri. Stolarz’s 30 saves meant the Maple Leafs were not simply winning a shooting contest: they contained Edmonton’s dangerous attack while repeatedly converting their own chances.

Edmonton’s stars still produced—Draisaitl scored twice and McDavid registered two assists—but those individual contributions could not offset Toronto’s balanced offense. The defeat ended the Oilers’ three-game winning streak. Toronto’s four-game surge, meanwhile, gains weight because it came on the road against a team that entered the night with only one regulation loss.
