# Volkanovski Stops Unbeaten Evloev in Round Two at UFC 333, Retains Featherweight Crown - Link: https://tectonicsmediapublications.com/ufc-333-volkanovski-evloev-october-24-2026-event-guide/ - Published: 2026-10-24T17:58:48+00:00 - Author: News Team **ABU DHABI, October 24, 2026 — Final result.** Alexander Volkanovski retained the UFC featherweight championship with a technical knockout of Movsar Evloev at **4: 54 of the second round** at UFC 333 in Etihad Arena. The Australian champion ended the Russian contender’s 20-fight unbeaten professional run in a result that answered the event’s central question: could Volkanovski impose his striking against Evloev’s grappling? ## How the title fight ended The first round gave Evloev opportunities to press his wrestling and clinch game, but Volkanovski found more room to work as the contest developed. In round two, he defended grappling exchanges, landed cleaner combinations and drove Evloev toward the fence. A damaging sequence of punches sent the challenger down, and Volkanovski followed with strikes on the canvas until referee Marc Goddard stopped the bout with six seconds left in the round. The finish matters beyond the highlight: Evloev arrived without a professional defeat, and Volkanovski demonstrated that surviving the wrestling threat could create a route to decisive offense. That is a tactical observation, not a claim that Evloev’s broader skills have disappeared; the rematch question, if one arises, would turn on whether the challenger can convert his entries into sustained control. ## What it means for the featherweight division Volkanovski, 38, added another successful title defense and reinforced his position at the top of the division. His ability to make adjustments between rounds was central to the outcome. Afterward, he spoke about having promised his wife a quick fight around their wedding anniversary, according to Reuters. The win also gives the UFC an unusually clear championship result: a stoppage rather than a close decision. ## Yan wins the co-main event In the bantamweight title bout, **Petr Yan defeated Merab Dvalishvili by unanimous decision**, with all three judges scoring it **48–47**. Yan weathered repeated takedown attempts and increased his effective striking as the fight progressed, according to the UFC’s official results and Reuters. That result should be treated separately from the featherweight main event. ## Official UFC video: exact-event highlights The UFC has published an [official highlight clip of Volkanovski’s round-two stoppage at UFC 333](https://www.ufc.com/video/161377) and an [official post-fight octagon interview](https://www.ufc.com/video/161321).
