Anthony Joshua, the former heavyweight champion, was recently involved in a devastating
accident in Nigeria. The crash resulted in the deaths of two of his close team members,
Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami. They were traveling together when their vehicle collided
with a parked truck on a busy highway in Ogun state, near Lagos.

The driver, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, has been charged with several offenses. These
include causing death by dangerous driving and negligence. Police reported that
these events unfolded on Monday, and both team members were pronounced dead at the
crash scene.

Joshua was hospitalized with injuries and has since been discharged. He expressed
deep sorrow over the loss of his friends. Just hours before the incident, he shared
a lighthearted moment on Instagram, playing table tennis with Ayodele.

As Joshua recuperates, his promoter Eddie Hearn paid tribute to the late team members,
emphasizing their energy and loyalty. The crash serves as a somber reminder of the
unpredictability of life.

Currently, the driver has been granted bail but is awaiting further court proceedings
set for January 20. This tragedy not only impacts Joshua personally but also echoes
profoundly through the boxing community.

As we reflect on this incident, let’s remember the lives lost and support those
affected during this challenging time.
