# Sharks Score Twice in 11 Seconds to Stun Canucks 3–2—How the Third Period Flipped - Link: https://tectonicsmediapublications.com/sharks-canucks-smith-marchment-11-seconds-comeback-october-30-2026/ - Published: 2026-10-30T12:05:41+00:00 - Author: News Team **October 30, 2026.** Two goals in **11 seconds** turned a Vancouver lead into a San Jose win on Thursday night. **Will Smith** tied the game at 10:39 of the third period, and **Mason Marchment** scored at 10:50 to give the **San Jose Sharks a 3–2 victory** over the Vancouver Canucks at SAP Center. The score and scoring sequence are confirmed by the [official NHL game report](https://www.nhl.com/sharks/news/vancouver-canucks-san-jose-sharks-game-recap-october-29-2026-x1385) and [Associated Press recap](https://www.cbssports.com/nhl/gametracker/recap/NHL_20261029_VAN%40SJ/). ## How a 2–0 deficit vanished Vancouver led through two periods after **Drew O’Connor** scored in the first and** Liam Ohgren** doubled the advantage late in the second. Smith began the comeback with a power-play goal at 8:00 of the third, ending a long Sharks scoring drought. He struck again at 10:39, finishing a play involving **Macklin Celebrini**. Marchment’s go-ahead shot came only 11 seconds later. The three San Jose goals arrived in a span of **two minutes and 50 seconds**. That is not the same as three goals in 11 seconds: the 11-second statistic applies only to the tying and winning goals. The official NHL account notes that Smith and Marchment’s pair tied for the seventh-fastest two goals in Sharks history. ## Why the comeback matters The result snapped San Jose’s two-game losing streak and showed the impact of a sudden shift in momentum. Smith supplied two goals, Marchment added an assist to his winner, and goalie **Yaroslav Askarov** finished with 23 saves. For Vancouver, the defeat extended a difficult run: the Canucks had won just once in their previous 12 games at the final whistle. There is a tactical lesson in the sequence, although one game cannot prove a lasting trend. San Jose increased its attacking pressure in the third period, while Vancouver failed to protect a two-goal lead. A short scoring burst is decisive on the night; it does not by itself predict either team’s season. ## Verified highlights and game context The [NHL’s official October 29 recap](https://www.nhl.com/sharks/news/vancouver-canucks-san-jose-sharks-game-recap-october-29-2026-x1385) includes a clip labelled _Smith, Marchment net 2 goals in 11 seconds_.
