**HARRISON, N.J. — October 24, 2026 (final):** Red Bull New York beat Inter Miami
CF 2–0 on Saturday, turning an early defensive mistake into a lead that lasted until
Emil Forsberg sealed the result in stoppage time.

## How New York won

The breakthrough arrived in the seventh minute when Miami’s Casemiro put the ball
into his own net. New York protected that narrow advantage through the remainder
of regulation before Forsberg struck in the 90th minute plus one, removing the chance
of a last-gasp Miami equalizer.

The [official MLS match report](https://www.mlssoccer.com/competitions/mls-regular-season/2026/matches/rbnyvsmia-10-24-2026/)
confirms the 2–0 final score, the own goal and Forsberg’s late finish. [Independent reporting from Front Row Soccer](https://www.frontrowsoccer.com/2026/10/24/a-big-big-win-red-bulls-score-early-late-blank-miami-messi/)
also describes New York’s victory over Miami and Lionel Messi.

## Why the result matters

For Miami, a game with more of the ball still ended without a goal. That contrast
underlines a recurring lesson of tight matches: territory and possession cannot
substitute for finishing, and conceding early forces a team to chase the game on
its opponent’s terms. For New York, holding a one-goal lead for more than 80 minutes
before finding a second is a statement about game management as much as attacking
quality.

The final score also interrupts Miami’s three-match winning streak entering the
fixture, as noted in [MLS’s pre-match coverage](https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/lionel-messi-inter-miami-square-off-with-red-bull-new-york).
It is a completed MLS regular-season match, not a live score or a playoff result.
