**October 31, 2026.** The Orlando Magic answered a recent defeat in Toronto with
a 121–114 victory over the Raptors on Friday, October 30, in an Emirates NBA Cup
East Group A game. The result was final, not a live score: Desmond Bane scored 28
points and Franz Wagner added 26 points and 11 assists, overcoming a 40-point performance
from Toronto’s Scottie Barnes.

## How Orlando took control

The Magic built their advantage before halftime, scoring 31 points in the first
quarter and 33 in the second. That gave Orlando a 64–55 lead at the break. Toronto
won the third quarter 33–31, but Orlando matched the Raptors’ 26 fourth-quarter
points to protect the win.

Bane supplied the scoring punch, with a season-best 28 points. Wagner combined 26
points with 11 assists, season highs in both categories according to the NBA’s game
recap. Their different contributions mattered: Bane helped stretch Toronto’s defense
while Wagner provided both finishing and playmaking.

## Why Barnes’ 40 points were not enough

Barnes delivered his first 40-point NBA game, yet Toronto still lost by seven. That
contrast illustrates why a single dominant scorer does not always determine the
result. Orlando’s scoring distribution and early lead left Toronto chasing for much
of the night, even as Barnes produced a career milestone.

The official NBA box score records Orlando’s 121 points against Toronto’s 114, and
the league identifies the matchup as an East Group A NBA Cup contest. The outcome
should not be confused with the teams’ October 28 meeting, which Toronto won 129–
99.

## What the result means

The Magic improved to 1–0 in NBA Cup group play, while Toronto opened 0–1, according
to the league’s official recap. A single group game does not settle qualification,
but it changes the early standings and gives Orlando an immediate response to its
heavy loss two days earlier.
