<p>BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) &#8211; FIRST ALERT FOR A TROPICAL SYSTEM: We are still tracking a potential tropical system near the Bahamas. Further east of this system, Humberto is a category four hurricane and expected to grow into a category 5. This system will remain far from the East Coast. However, it could have an influence on the path of the next system. We expect Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine to become Imelda. With model agreement on a possible landfall in South Carolina (early next week around Tuesday), we will be watching this system very closely. It is expected to become a strong tropical storm or category one hurricane. As the system nears the coast, the interaction with an upper trough and Humberto could weaken the system and help it make a turn to the east, but there will still be lots of rain in the region that could result in flooding. This doesn’t look like a Helene-level event, but with any tropical system, flash flooding and dangerous surf is always a concern. BIRMINGHAM, Ala.
