New Albany Receives Award for 6th Consecutive Year

The City of New Albany has been honored with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Officers Association (GFOA)—a national recognition of excellence in public sector budgeting.

This distinguished award underscores the City’s unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and excellence in financial planning. The GFOA’s award is presented to government entities that meet rigorous, nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines ensure that the City’s budget functions as:
<script async src="https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-5730108346191534"

a policy document

a financial plan

an operations guide

a communications tool

To earn this award, New Albany’s budget had to be rated “proficient” in all four of these categories, including 14 essential criteria set by the GFOA.

With over 1,700 participants in the Budget Awards Program, this achievement places New Albany among the leading government organizations across North America in the area of financial stewardship and budget communication. The most recent Budget Award recipients, along with their corresponding budget documents, are posted quarterly on GFOA’s website.

“We’re proud to once again be recognized for our efforts to maintain the highest standards in budget development,” said Bethany Staats, City of New Albany Director. “This award reflects the dedication of our Department and City leadership to strong financial management and transparency.”
