Lendeborg’s 37-Point Breakout Powers Warriors Past Clippers Without Curry or Green
· News Team
November 2, 2026. The Golden State Warriors have turned an 0–3 start into four straight wins, and their latest victory came without two of their most recognizable stars. Rookie Yaxel Lendeborg scored a career-high 37 points as Golden State beat the Los Angeles Clippers 124–112 on Sunday, November 1, at Chase Center in San Francisco.
The number behind the breakout
Lendeborg shot 13-for-19 from the field and 6-for-11 from three-point range, adding six assists. According to Associated Press reporting, his 37 points were the most by a Warriors rookie since Stephen Curry scored 42 in April 2010. Two 30-point performances within his first seven games also put him in a small historical group with Wilt Chamberlain and Rick Barry.
Those comparisons describe a remarkable start, not a prediction that Lendeborg will match the careers of those players. What matters immediately is how efficiently he generated offense: six made threes stretched the defense, while his six assists showed that the performance was not limited to individual shot-making.
Why the team result matters
Stephen Curry and Draymond Green were rested for the front end of a back-to-back. Golden State nevertheless recovered from an early deficit, led 63–57 at halftime and held off the Clippers. De’Anthony Melton supplied 21 points, while Brandin Podziemski and reserve Brandon Williams scored 17 apiece. Los Angeles was led by Rui Hachimura’s 24 points.
The Warriors improved to 4–3; the Clippers dropped to 1–5. A single game cannot settle Golden State’s long-term rotation questions, but it offers concrete evidence that the offense can function when Curry is unavailable. That is a more useful takeaway than treating one rookie scoring night as a season-long guarantee.
