MINNEAPOLIS, October 25, 2026 — Final: The Minnesota Vikings beat the Indianapolis Colts 16–10 on Sunday to improve to 6–0, their first such start since 2009. The final score understates how precarious the unbeaten run looked: Minnesota trailed for more than three quarters before its defense and one decisive Kyler Murray scramble changed the game.

How the comeback happened

Indianapolis seized the early advantage through Jonathan Taylor’s 38-yard touchdown run and led 10–6 at halftime. Minnesota’s only touchdown arrived early in the fourth quarter, when Murray broke free for 35 yards to the Colts’ five-yard line and found tight end T.J. Hockenson for a five-yard score on the next play. That sequence gave the Vikings a 13–10 lead, their first of the afternoon.

Will Reichard added a 52-yard field goal with 1:39 remaining. Then veteran safety Harrison Smith intercepted Daniel Jones on Indianapolis’ last possession to extinguish the comeback attempt. It was Smith’s 40th career interception, another milestone in his 15th NFL season.

The revealing number was not Minnesota’s 16 points

Linebacker Blake Cashman registered 12 tackles, two sacks and four passes defended. Minnesota held Indianapolis scoreless after halftime and to just 48 net yards in the fourth quarter, according to the Vikings’ game observations. This was less a story of an offense suddenly finding its rhythm than of a defense keeping the margin small enough for one explosive quarterback run to matter.

That distinction matters for the weeks ahead. Murray finished with 150 passing yards and one touchdown; Minnesota did not sustain a high-scoring attack. The unbeaten record is real, but a team that depends on late defensive stops has little room for turnovers, injuries or a single coverage mistake against stronger opponents. The Vikings can celebrate the result without mistaking it for a complete performance.

What comes next

Minnesota heads into its next game at Detroit still unbeaten. Indianapolis, now 2–5, visits Jacksonville. The immediate question for the Vikings is whether the offense can provide earlier support to a defense that has repeatedly carried the closing minutes.

Final score: Minnesota Vikings 16, Indianapolis Colts 10. Game date: Sunday, October 25, 2026. Status: Final; not a live score or an older highlight.
