Researchers studying the famed Magdalena Flood found evidence that it was part of a much broader period of extreme flooding in Europe during the early 1340s.

According to Smithsonian Magazine, the research identified 16 major flood events over roughly three years, showing that the region experienced repeated destructive weather rather than a single isolated catastrophe.

The findings offer a clearer picture of how severe and persistent extreme weather affected European communities during that period.
